SENIOR HR GENERALIST

Overview Senior HR Generalist City Light & Power (CLP) has built a reputation as an innovative, reliable, and responsive private Utility Development Leader. The Senior HR Generalist serves as a trusted HR partner, overseeing and executing day‑to‑day human resources operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and industry‑specific regulations. This role provides advanced support across the employee lifecycle, payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR systems, and plays a key role in process improvement, reporting, and cross‑functional collaboration with leadership and the Safety Department. Summary/Objective The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the oversight, administration, and processing of the weekly union and bi-weekly multi-state payroll. Duties And Responsibilities Serves as a primary HR point of contact, advising employees and managers on policies, procedures, and employee relations matters Maintains accurate, confidential personnel records and ensures HRIS data integrity and compliance Oversees onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientations, exit interviews, and electronic employment documentation Processes I‑9 verification and E‑Verify in compliance with federal requirements Administers payroll changes and processes bi‑weekly payroll through Paylocity; maintains the electronic timekeeping system Supports benefits administration, including enrollments, employee inquiries, and billing reconciliation Manages DOT employee tracking, testing compliance, and employment verification requests Prepares and supports annual, compliance, and ad‑hoc HR reporting Partners on HR projects, audits, and process improvements; collaborates with the Safety Department as needed Other duties as assigned Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Skills And Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required; Human Resources or Accounting preferred Five (5+) years of progressive HR experience, including payroll administration Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements Experience with HRIS, timekeeping, and payroll systems (Paylocity preferred) Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality Team‑oriented, detail‑driven, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work This is a full-time, exempt position. Office hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hybrid work schedule possible. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Travel Minimal travel may be expected. Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 per year based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
