Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 15-bed CVICU/CICU setting with an average daily census of 10, maintaining a 1:1 ratio (up to 1:3 with stable, lower-acuity patients)
• Manage complex cardiac diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, MI, pulmonary hypertension, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
• Support advanced therapy workups and mechanical circulatory support, including LVAD evaluations, heart transplant workups, IABP, and Impella devices
• Assist with and monitor special procedures including bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
• Operate specialized equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
• Float within specialty and to lower-acuity areas as needed; on-call may be required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CICU experience required (first-time travelers with strong CVICU skill sets will be considered)
• BLS certification – AHA only
• ACLS certification – AHA only
• CPI certification required – The Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible (permanent address required)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN certification preferred
• Experience with mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, IABP, VAD) and CRRT
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac procedures including Swan/PA catheter management and targeted temperature management
• Prior travel nursing experience in a high-acuity cardiovascular setting
