Technician II

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Technician II to join our team in Arlington, Texas.

Job Summary: This Technician II position performs on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installation of company product(s). This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; preventive maintenance actions; documentation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Installs equipment including but not limited to IP based cameras, antennas, detectors, network equipment, controller cabinets.
• Install and troubleshoot electrical conductors, data conductors, fiber optic cables.
• Uses in-house software to troubleshoot system issues.
• Terminates conductors to equipment including CAT6 cables.
• Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
• Tests multiple devices to ensure they work correctly.
• Enters detailed information on electronic work orders.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate's degree desirable.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Driving is a key requirement for this position. A CDL is not required but desirable.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions, and moving traffic. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
