Pay Range: $24.80 - $41.34

The Neurostimulation Technician provides assistance for clinical and research tasks under the direction of principal investigators in the Neurosciences and Behavioral Medicine Center of Excellence. The technician performs clinical and experimental procedures for the purpose of clinical care and research as directed, primarily including neuromodulation, neurostimulation, and electrophysiology. The technician performs data entry for clinical and research procedures. The technician assists various teams with research studies by assisting with data entry, monitoring the quality of data in registries and databases, and assisting with administrative and coordination tasks associated with research projects. The Neurostimulation Technician may also assist in maintaining regulatory documents per sponsor and institutional requirements.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field, such as neuroscience, psychology, or nursing, from a regionally accredited college or university. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience: At least 1-2 years of related experience desired (Preferred)

The Neurostimulation Technician will be trained and validated by the device manufacturer.

No supervisory experience required.

Required Certifications: Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (Required upon hire)

Required Skills/Knowledge: Familiarity and training with assessment of children At least basic familiarity with neuromodulation and/or neurostimulation neuropsychological assessment tools (e.g., transcranial magnetic stimulation [TMS], transcranial direct stimulation [tDCS]).

Functional Accountabilities:

• Performs TMS Testing
• Obtain the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures.
• Select appropriate instrument settings and utilize appropriate mapping and treatment techniques, as determined by physician; accommodate for disabilities or special needs.
• Use appropriate recording and stimulus parameters.
• Clinical History and Current Status Review
• Review patient history, evaluations, reasons for referral; note the patient's overall physical condition; list current medications/sedation and time of last dosage.
• Establish rapport with the patient and the patient's family, interact on a level appropriate to the patient's age and mental capacity and recognize different levels of education and adjust to meet the families' needs; address families' anxiety level.
• Monitor and report concerns or complaints.
• Recognize normal and abnormal patterns and artifacts.

• Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance
• Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
• Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation
• Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication

• Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance
• Data Entry and Management
• Completes clinical or research data entry in a timely fashion with good accuracy
• Monitors the content of databases and creates an error report for study and/or clinical staff
• With multisite registries, assists the senior staff in communicating with member institutions to gather and provide information needed to maintain fidelity of the data and data collection
• Assists in correcting errors found in clinical and research databases or registries
• Ensures secure storage of digital and/or physical study documents
• Responsible Conduct of Research
• Demonstrates consistent adherence to the standards for responsible conduct of research
• Stays informed of and adheres to institutional policies, and federal regulations (e.g. Titles 21 and 45 of the Code of Federal Regulations) and guidance (International Counsel on Harmonization) regarding human subjects' research and use of protected health information.
• Maintains knowledge and comprehension of assigned research protocols; including study procedures, timelines and eligibility.
• Complies with and maintains current documentation of all job-related training and conflict of interest reporting
• Reports good faith suspicions of research noncompliance and/or research misconduct to the appropriate institutional compliance office(s)

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy.
