As an agency found on principles of inclusion, Mary Cariola Center fosters an environment where all are welcome, and our differences are respected and valued.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with orientation and training of new staff in all individual program plans, data collection systems and direct care responsibilitiesAct as a "training mentor" to new staff by maintaining communication with the new employee, monitoring their training progress and ensuring they complete their training packetAssist in keeping the training packet up to date, making updates when neededObtain and maintain Train-the-Trainer certifications for SCIP-r or CPR/First Aid, providing new staff training and updates in these areas, as requestedAttend any medical/health related appointments of the residents as neededFacilitate active participation of the residents by implementing their individual program plan in their home and communityImplement behavior support plans and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-r) accurately and consistentlyEngage in any necessary lifting, moving and/or positioning tasks for residentsFacilitate improved gross motor, fine motor and range of motion skillsPromote and facilitate self-care and personal hygieneAssist residents with bathing, toileting, dressing and eating as needed including modeling appropriate behavior, using therapeutic equipment and/or therapeutic feedingPerform housekeeping tasks when needed including but not limited to: meal preparation, cleaning, laundry and shoppingFoster receptive and expressive communication through many different avenues including sign language, pictograms and electronic devicesAccurately and consistently complete all required documentation in a continuous manner by utilizing PrecisionCare software and in written form, when necessaryAttend and actively participate in staff meetings, case reviews, in-service sessions, etc.Implement fire, safety and emergency procedures, assisting with fire drills when neededAdminister medications to residentsAll other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsAbility to read, write, speak and understand English including interpreting documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manualsPossess a current and valid NYS drivers licenseHigh School Diploma or GEDPreferred Qualifications6 months or more experience in similar roleCertifications and TrainingsNYS Medication AdministrationSCIP-rCPRFirst AidAll other trainings mandated by the Office for people with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)*Note: all certifications and trainings will be provided by the agency if you do not already possess themEEO Statement:We are an equal opportunity employer.
