Database Architect

HEPCO Inc. is seeking a senior-level database architect to support the New York State Office of Information Technology Services in Albany. This 30-month assignment supports a modernization initiative focused on aging data warehouse and analytics platforms using new on-premises cloud and container-based technologies.



Position overview
This role is responsible for the analysis, design, support, development, and reengineering of database structures across Sybase, SQL Server, and DB2 environments.



Key responsibilities

• nalyze, design, support, develop, and reengineer database structures in Sybase, SQL Server, and DB2.
• Perform database performance analysis, tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and benchmark design.
• Design methodologies for synchronizing data from multiple operational data stores into a zLinux DB2 data warehouse.
• Plan and support interfacing between z/OS and LUW DB2 application databases, the data warehouse, Cognos, Identity Insight, and DataStage.
• Serve as a liaison between data management, business stakeholders, and application development teams to ensure that they incorporate performance and design considerations into implementations.
• Develop cost-effective and timely database and application solutions aligned to strategic business.

Requirements:

• 84 months of experience monitoring system performance and implementing performance tuning measures for Sybase and SQL Server databases.
• 84 months of experience managing database maintenance activities such as reorgs, statistics, and optimization in server environments using Sybase and SQL Server.
• 84 months of experience documenting configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines for Sybase and SQL Server databases.
• 84 months of experience applying upgrades and security patches to critical operational databases.
• 84 months of experience using ERWin to create and maintain data models.
• 84 months of experience with Tableau or Cognos Analytics.
• 84 months of experience with data migration and conversion in relational databases.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have deep experience with legacy and enterprise database platforms, strong data warehouse modernization capabilities, and the ability to work across infrastructure, data management, and business teams in a complex government environment. Experience supporting large-scale analytics and reporting ecosystems in regulated environments will be especially valuable for this role.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
