You will be part of a collaborative team committed to trauma recovery, engaging in regular virtual consultations and team meetings to foster a strong sense of community and support. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough, trauma-informed assessments to evaluate patients’ mental health needs and historical trauma, guiding the development of tailored treatment plans. Design and implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, offering patients a structured, supportive environment to process their experiences and develop effective coping strategies. Collaboratively work with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for all clients. Provide crisis intervention as required, ensuring timely support and resources for patients in acute distress. Educate clients and their families on trauma responses and coping mechanisms, equipping them with valuable insights and tools. Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in alignment with legal and ethical standards, using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Engage actively in ongoing case consultations, professional development opportunities, and training that focuses on the latest trauma-informed care practices. Effectively stay current with advancements in trauma therapy through research and professional literature to enhance clinical knowledge. Patient Population / Client Focus The primary focus of this role is on individuals affected by various forms of trauma, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our clientele includes diverse individuals from the Newark community, many of whom are navigating complex challenges related to their trauma histories. As a therapist, your expertise will play a vital role in their healing journey. Qualifications Possession of a master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution. A valid and current license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New Jersey is required. A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred, particularly in trauma-focused settings. In-depth knowledge of trauma-related disorders and treatment methodologies, coupled with a commitment to ongoing professional growth. Strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrating compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach. The ability to remain poised under stress and handle high-intensity situations effectively. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other essential software applications. Preferred Experience Experience delivering trauma-focused therapies, such as EMDR or TF-CBT, will be highly advantageous. Compensation and Benefits The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $104,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
