Recreation Specialist - Adult Sports Volleyball

Recreation Specialist (Adult Sports Volleyball) Part‑time, year‑round position (temporary, non‑benefited). Salary: $24.00–$27.00 per hour. Location: Centennial Recreation Center, City of Morgan Hill. The Recreation Specialist is responsible for coordinating, organizing, scheduling, and supervising the adult sports competitive volleyball league held on Wednesday evenings, with possible Thursdays. Responsibilities Coordinate, organize, supervise and evaluate competitive volleyball sports programs. Manage day‑to‑day tasks related to program operation, including registration, scheduling, and communication with officials, participants, and management. Enforce program rules and policies, and resolve customer concerns. Assist with marketing of sports programs. Provide exemplary customer service and communicate program details to participants. Resolve customer issues professionally and respond to critical incidents. Communicate with management regarding incidents or injuries. Support supervisor on various assignments. Ensure overall safety of all program areas. Perform related duties as assigned. Schedule Approximately 4–5 hours per week; must be available Wednesday evenings, and possibly Thursday from 5 pm–10 pm. Selection Process Applications will be screened. Qualified candidates will be invited to an oral interview. A reference check and background check (including fingerprinting) will be required before appointment. Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. Prior experience in volleyball sports programming. Valid American Red Cross Adult and Child CPR and First Aid certification (to be obtained within 30 days of start date). Knowledge of sports principles and effective public communication. Strong skills in interpreting policies, adapting to changing priorities, communicating, and delivering outstanding customer service. Special Requirements Position requires 4–5 hours per week. Must be able to lift boxes and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Benefits Part‑time, temporary, at‑will. Part‑time employees are enrolled in the PARS retirement system (employee pays 7.5% deduction). The PARS retirement system is in lieu of social security; employees participate in the Medicare portion of social security.
