Hourly Full Time Professional Virginia, Arlington, VA, US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 2576 Salary Range: $88,000.00 To $92,000.00 Annually The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), established in 1911, is a nongovernmental, not-for-profit international organization dedicated to addressing the needs and rights of refugees and immigrants. USCRI, working with nearly 200 affiliates, provides legal, social, and health services to refugees, unaccompanied migrating children, trafficking survivors, and other immigrants in all 50 states, El Salvador, Honduras, Kenya, and Mexico. USCRI advocates for the rights of refugees and immigrants both nationally and globally, helping to drive humanitarian policies, practices, and law. To learn more about our work, please visit our website at Overview Reporting to the Senior Director, Humanitarian Legal Services, the Staff Attorney is responsible for developing, cultivating, and sustaining relationships with attorneys, law firms, bar associations, law schools, and legal networks to expand the organization’s pool of volunteer attorneys. The Staff Attorney will represent the organization at networking events, conduct targeted outreach, and design engagement strategies that strengthen the pro bono program and increase legal services capacity for underserved clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Engage Partner Agencies and other organizations to create a network of pro bono attorneys Build and maintain partnerships with attorneys, law firms, corporate legal departments, bar associations, and law school clinics Attend network events, bar association meetings, CLE workshops, conferences, and community outreach events to promote the organization’s mission and volunteer opportunities Identify new networks, affinity groups, and professional associations to expand recruitment pipeline Develop and implement a recruitment strategy Create informational materials, presentations, and talking points for prospective volunteers Lead orientation sessions, volunteer briefings, and onboarding processing for incoming pro bono attorneys Draft emails, newsletters, and social media content that highlight volunteer opportunities Develop and maintain database of assigned programs to ensure compliance with requirements Participate in program meetings and assist with tracking program deliverables Ensure assigned program data reports are prepared accurately for timely submission Centralize clients, legal cases, and case notes in USCRI’s data management system Represent a caseload of clients as determined by the Senior Director, to include conducting intake, providing legal consultation to determine eligibility for legal relief, preparing and submitting immigration applications, and representing clients at hearings, interviews, and other appointments as necessary Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director (or Associate Director) All of the above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions. Requirements J.D. with a valid license to practice law in the United States 2-5 years of legal experience, with experience in community outreach or partnership development, volunteer recruitment or volunteer management, or other relationship-building role Prior experience in immigration legal services, human rights, or public interest law Program and grant management experience, grant writing experience preferred Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing and demonstrated intercultural communication ability Excellent organizational and time management skills High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and database programs; proficiency in CRM or volunteer management database Flexibility for evening and community-based work required, and able to travel as needed Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team Demonstrated support for USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintaining confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
