SUMMARY
The Student Financial Services Coordinator serves as a core member of the Student Financial Services team. This position delivers comprehensive financial counseling and account management services to students and families. The coordinator ensures accurate billing, payment processing, compliance, and cross-departmental collaboration to support student retention and institutional integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.

• Counsel prospective and current students, as well as their families, regarding financial obligations, institutional policies, and available payment strategies.
• Deliver prompt, professional, and empathetic responses to inquiries received via telephone, email, and in-person walk-ins.
• Exercise sound judgment to audit account discrepancies, independently resolving billing data errors in coordination with various campus departments.
• Assist in the preparation, verification, and distribution of student tuition and fee billings.
• Establish, oversee, and conduct monthly audits of automated student payment plans to ensure accurate balancing.
• Manage the billing and collection processes for dual-enrollment students.
• Process external billings and manage payments funded by government agencies and private organizations.
• Coordinate with Campus Safety to track and collect unpaid parking fines and permit fees.
• Review credit balances, prepare documentation, and evaluate student/parent refund requests for administrative approval.
• Prepare and post accurate journal entries to support departmental reconciliation.
• Audit and clear accounts for withdrawing or graduating students.

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as member of the Student Financial Services department reporting directly to the Director of Student Financial Services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong ability to master and communicate complex financial obligations, institutional billing structures, and payment options available to families.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills in Excel and Word.
• Ability to maintain strict data confidentiality; direct familiarity with FERPA regulations is highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple financial deadlines simultaneously.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree, preferred. 1-3 years of accounting experience in accounts receivable and/or accounts payable.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
