Bring your certification and licensure and join an established family-owned business that will value your skills and treat you like family, not just another number.Classification: non-exempt, hourly Reports to: Maintenance ManagerThis position provides skilled Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading HVAC and Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS) and equipment in accordance with industry best practices; ensuring that all work is done according to design specifications, state and local building codes, and applicable regulation.Essential FunctionsAnalyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings for the purpose of identifying the location of new and existing HVAC systems and determining the efficient installation of additional systemsCleans air conditioning and heating units (e.g. coils, condensation pans, drain lines, cooling towers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring units are operating efficiently, correctly and within safety guidelines.Coordinates with supervisor and other trades (e.g. inspectors, suppliers, contractors, district personnel, consultants, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects and work ordersDiagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems and energy management control systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs ensuring responsive and corrective action for urgent building operation items, indoor air quality, thermal comfort parameters.Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.Installs HVAC equipment and systems (e.g. actuators, compressors, building control systems, DDC sensors, heat pumps, control panels, energy management control systems, pressure reducing valves, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilitiesMaintains records (e.g. equipment repair history, work orders, test reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting required informationMonitors HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive and predictive maintenance.Performs emergence, predictive and preventive maintenance for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC systemsReports problems to Senior HVAC Technician.CompetenciesKnowledge of pneumatics, chillers, boilers, air handlers, and HVAC systemsAbility to use various power and hand toolsBasic measuringInitiativeAbility to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationshipsTime ManagementDecision MakingCommunication ProficiencyOrganization and Problem-Solving SkillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to understand written and verbal instructionSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentThis job requires working in commercial spaces including but not limited to industrial, warehouse, and office environments.This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very hot to very cold with rain to very hot and humid. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time.Must be able to lift 75 poundsMust be able to exert up to 20 pounds of forceMust be able to use a ladderRequired Education and ExperienceDriver's licenseHigh School diploma or equivalent.Preferred Education and ExperienceTrade schoolTwo (2) years' experience doing general maintenance work in a commercial space.Three (3) years' HVAC experienceEPA universal refrigerant handling licenseKnowledge of codeWorking HoursTypical workweek is forty (40) hours per week. Work hours are from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
