What You’ll Do: As a Sr. Director of Technical Program Management (TPM), we’re looking for someone that can help us lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms that will help Capital One customers have incredible experiences. In addition to the technical program, you will also work to pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team, by leveraging your industry knowledge and experience to teach the organization what a great TPM can achieve. Drive the end-to-end strategic roadmap and delivery for enterprise capabilities,, ensuring modernization, scalability, and alignment with business growth priorities Effecting change management by implementing enterprise technology best practices through effective automation across the organization. This includes Cyber, Tech and Data risk initiatives to strengthen our well‑managed posture and eliminate manual controls. Own executive communications on delivery status, program risk and long-term architectural decisions to drive enterprise-wide technology alignment Establish and scale TPM best practices, governance frameworks, and OKR-based performance models that are adopted across multiple domains Influence investment prioritization and ensure that platform decision optimize for long-term agility, resilience and cost efficiency Mentor and develop TPM leaders, fostering a high-performance culture focused on technical excellence and delivery accountability Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field At least 9 years of experience managing technical programs Preferred Qualifications: 9+ years of experience designing and building solutions using distributed computing or service oriented architecture (SOA) 5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS 5+ years of building & leading experienced TPM team or impacting multiple organizations as an IC 5+ years experience building highly scalable products & platforms 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery 5+ years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you contribute to the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment Experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) At least 10 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams Experience partnering with technology peers responsible for data architecture and distributed computing infrastructure/platforms Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences Industry impact through conference presentations, papers, blog posts, open source contributions, or patents Ability to attract and develop high-performing software engineers with an inspiring leadership style Experience establishing TPM operating models or scaling TPM disciplines across multiple product lines At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization, or offer any immigration related support for this position (e.g. H1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, TN, E-3, and O-1, or any other forms of work authorization that require immigration support from an employer). The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Plano, TX: $245,100 - $279,800 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
