Position Details Level: Educational Assistant Employment Type: Temporary, non‑tenure track Hours: Part‑time up to 17 hours per week Anticipated Start Date: June 2026 Work Location: CT State Capital, 950 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103 (on site, not remote) Closing Date: Open until filled; priority for applicants submitted by April 29, 2026 Position Summary Working under the supervision of the Placement Testing Specialist, the EA – Test Proctor provides direct support for students who utilize the Testing Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare computer labs for testing, including sanitizing workstations and ensuring computers and testing software are functioning. Check in students with a college or government‑issued ID. Maintain a distraction‑free testing environment. Provide information about testing policies and procedures to students. Supervise students during testing to maintain test integrity. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in a related field and relevant work experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in exam proctoring, academic testing environments, or nursing education. Familiarity with NCLEX‑style testing and nursing curriculum content. Knowledge of testing accommodations and ability to implement them accurately and confidentially. Demonstrated ability to maintain exam integrity, security, and confidentiality in high‑stakes testing environments. Ability to follow standardized procedures and enforce exam policies fairly and consistently. Comfortable using educational and testing platforms (e.g., ExamSoft/Examplify, Blackboard Ultra). Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, testing center staff, and administration. Reliable, punctual, and flexible to support scheduled exam times, including early mornings or extended testing periods into the afternoon. Salary $37.74 hourly. Background Screening Proof of eligibility to work under the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA). Successful completion of a background check, including permission to contact previous employers, reference checks, criminal history, and, if applicable, credit or driving history checks.
