Details Work in a Surgical unit caring for a complex post-operative patient population Provides post-operative care including tracheostomy monitoring, wound and wound vac management, and ostomy care Uses Epic charting system Night shift schedule of 7:00p-7:30a on three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week) Weekend commitment of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis No floating requirements No on-call responsibilities Requirements Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted) Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required ASN required, BSN preferred Experience with tracheostomy care, wound and wound vac management, and ostomy care Level 1 Trauma center experience preferred Skilled in patient and family education Experience collaborating with surgical residency services Additional Information Serve as the primary caregiver for an assigned group of surgical patients, applying the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate care Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient and family needs Collaborate closely with general surgical and OMFS residency services Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support continuity of care Report and correct safety hazards to ensure patient and staff safety Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted RTO may not exceed 7 total days during the 13-week contract Workers may not remain on assignment at this health system for more than one year without a 6-month break in service before returning American Traveler Job ID P-746295.
