Licensed Therapist Contractor- Veteran and Military Mental Health

Overview We are seeking remote 1099, Independent Contract Therapists to join our growing network supporting veterans, military members and their dependents. In this role the therapist will provide a full range of psychological services to include psychological assessment, diagnostic, and evidence-based treatment services. Responsibilities Independently conducts psychosocial assessments to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of the patient and their families. Provides individual and group interventions to support patients coping with health psychology presentations related to mental health diagnoses (e.g., sleep, pain, adherence to medical regimen, adjustment to illness), psychosocial stressors, grief or phase of life difficulties (e.g., discrimination, stress management, coping with loss, transition to civilian life). Provides cognitive screening to address specific functional and/or cognitive ability questions. Provides immediate access to clinical assessment and appropriate collaborative care and treatment for those experiencing mental health symptoms or behavioral health issues. Possesses working knowledge and experience in medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures including acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses; familiar with medications and their effects/side effects; and medical terminology. Follows suicide prevention guidelines and completes risk assessment documentation and training requirements. Completes thorough psychosocial assessments and documents pertinent information in all required areas of functioning to determine diagnoses and other treatment-related conclusions. Provides DSM diagnoses to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and/or their families. Provides emergency/crisis interventions to stabilize the patient and develops crisis management plans. Provides psychotherapy as individual, group and/or family interventions when clinically indicated and beneficial to the recipients. Maintains knowledge of Veteran benefits and services, community resources, and referrals to appropriate programs or agencies. Provides case management services to the patient and their families throughout the continuum of care. Adheres to client regulations regarding documentation and completion of encounters. Requirements Licensure: Must be licensed to practice independently in ANY state; Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Psychologist: Must have PsyPact in addition to state license. Education: Depending on license type, must have either a master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field from an accredited program or a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program. Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience practicing therapy independently. Preferred experience: Experience providing therapy to veterans and military members. Experience: The therapist has experience in providing consultation about mental health diagnosis and appropriate treatment plans to professionals representing a variety of disciplines, particularly concerning psychiatrically and medically complex patients. Familiarity with the full range of DSM-5 clinical presentations and experience with brief, evidence-based psychological interventions for mild, moderate, and severe presentations. General knowledge of mental health assessment and treatment. General knowledge regarding Substance Use Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Serious Mental Illness (SMI); and experience with treating patients within a Veterans\' Hospital PTSD and MHC setting who may present with all forms of mental health and behavioral health concerns and comorbidities. Assessment and intervention skills with specialized experience in Evidence-Based Treatment. Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of risk assessment and mental health crisis procedures; ability to lead interdisciplinary treatment teams in intervening in patient mental health crises. Experience with one or more Electronic Health Records systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams). Must be a US citizen and reside in the United States. Final compensation will be based on relevant factors, including work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
