We are currently seeking professional, customer-focused Medical Support Assistants to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS). This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping Veterans access quality healthcare services.Position SummaryThe Medical Support Assistant (MSA) serves as the first point of contact for Veterans and plays an essential role in coordinating patient care. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, managing patient communications, maintaining electronic medical records, supporting Community Care referrals, and ensuring Veterans receive timely, professional service. Successful candidates are organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSchedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments in accordance with VA scheduling guidelines.Greet and check in Veterans while providing outstanding customer service.Answer and route incoming telephone calls professionally and courteously.Coordinate Community Care referrals and authorizations.Process consults utilizing HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM), Provider Profile Management System (PPMS), CPRS, and VistA.Update patient demographic, insurance, and emergency contact information.Enter and maintain accurate patient records within VA electronic health record systems.Monitor appointment recalls, reminders, cancellations, and no-show reports.Receive and process medical records into the VA electronic record.Collaborate with providers, nurses, and clinic staff to coordinate patient care.Utilize Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams daily.Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and VA privacy regulations.Complete additional administrative and scheduling duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsU.S. Citizen.High School Diploma or GED.Minimum six (6) months of customer service experience.Basic knowledge of medical terminology.Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.Basic computer proficiency.Strong verbal and written English communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.Preferred QualificationsExperience in any of the following is highly preferred:Medical Support AssistantMedical ReceptionistPatient Access RepresentativeMedical SchedulerReferral CoordinatorMedical Office AssistantHealthcare Customer ServiceVA healthcare environmentElectronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR)CPRSVistAHSRMPPMSRequired SkillsExcellent customer serviceProfessional telephone etiquetteStrong attention to detailAbility to prioritize multiple tasksProblem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal communicationMicrosoft Office proficiencyAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to work independentlySecurity & Background RequirementsVA background investigation (NACI)FingerprintingPersonal Identity Verification (PIV) credentialingVA security clearance processAll required onboarding requirements before beginning work.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods.Frequent computer and telephone use.Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.Ability to perform the essential duties of the position without restrictions.BenefitsCetechs offers a competitive benefits package that may include:Competitive payMedical, Dental, and Vision InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO)Paid Federal Holidays401(k) (if eligible)Employee Assistance ProgramProfessional growth opportunitiesEqual Opportunity EmployerCetechs is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
