Specialty Teacher (K–5 Afterschool Program)

Location: Multiple Elementary School Sites throughout Washington County ( Panorama, Washington, Sandstone, Heritage, Sunset, Paradise Canyon, Legacy, Red Mountain )

Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week during afterschool hours, with opportunities for additional hours at multiple locations

Pay: ($15-20) Based on experience and qualifications

Program Dates & Availability

Specialty Teachers have the flexibility to work during one or more of the following program sessions, or throughout the entire school year:

• Session 1: August 17 – October 14
• Session 2: October 19 – December 18
• Session 3: January 4 – March 5
• Session 4: March 15 – May 21

Applicants are welcome to apply if they are available for just one session, multiple sessions, or the full school year.

We are looking for energetic, creative, and passionate Specialty Teachers to lead engaging enrichment activities for elementary-aged youth (Kindergarten–5th grade) in our afterschool programs. If you love working with children, creating hands-on learning experiences, and helping youth discover new interests and talents, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

This role is all about building meaningful relationships, creating memorable experiences, and inspiring students through fun, interactive learning.

Lead Hands-On Learning

Plan and facilitate exciting enrichment activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and participation. Specialty areas may include:

• Music
• Cultural Enrichment

Mentor & Motivate

Serve as a positive role model and create a safe, supportive environment where every student feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged to succeed.

Create Engaging Experiences

Turn everyday lessons into interactive adventures that help students learn, grow, and develop confidence in their abilities.

Manage Groups Effectively

Use positive youth development practices and strong classroom management skills to maintain a fun, organized, and productive learning environment.

Collaborate with Staff

Work closely with Site Coordinators and program staff to support program goals and ensure a high-quality experience for all participants.

You genuinely enjoy working with children and have a passion for helping them learn and grow.

Patient & Supportive

You understand that every child learns differently and can adapt your teaching style to meet a variety of needs.

Reliable & Professional

You understand that consistency and professionalism help build trust with youth, families, and staff.

• Experience working with youth in educational, recreation, camp, childcare, or youth development settings preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between program sites if teaching at multiple locations.
• Must successfully complete required background screening.
