Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour variable day and night shifts, primarily days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required, with willingness to work more if available
• Every other holiday required, with willingness to work more if available
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS; TNCC preferred
• Unit operates with 16 beds plus 2 additional procedural beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2 standard, 1:1 for higher acuity patients (CRRT, immediate post-op hearts, MTP, OPO), 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients
• Common patient populations include cardiovascular surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA), traumas, NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and ENT surgery
• Must have experience with high-acuity patient populations; CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO experience desired but not required
• All nurses care for POD 1 heart patients; immediate post-op heart patients cared for 1:1 by specifically trained nurses
• RNs required to titrate drips including epi, norepi, propofol, precedex, vasopressin, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neo, and milrinone
• RNs required to monitor own patient telemetry and read and document rhythm strips using GE monitors
• RT equipment includes ventilators, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and more, with RT available 24/7
• Intensivist in house 24/7
• Charge nurse on every shift; Nursing House Supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse aides available on day shift; not typical on night shift
• Floating may be required to MICU if not needed in SICU, or as patient observer within the hospital
• No specific scrub color required; clean and professional dress code
• Charting system: Cerner
• Orientation includes one day of system onboarding/CBT completion followed by two orientation shifts on the unit; skills checklist must be completed
• Must clock in and out at the facility

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 trauma center and tertiary care center serving a regional healthcare system. The Surgical ICU department features 16 beds plus 2 additional procedural beds and provides comprehensive critical care services including cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, and trauma care. The facility maintains 24/7 intensivist coverage and respiratory therapy support, and utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system.
