Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Public Information Officer, the Content Coordinator performs day-to-day duties and management related to content coordination for multiple forms of Town communications. 

**This is a Part-Time ONLY position averaging no more than 20 hours per week and is not eligible for health benefits.

Essential Duties

(Any one position may not include all the tasks listed, nor do the examples necessarily include all the tasks performed.)

• Creates social media content for all platforms and departments as needed (including but not limited to posts, photography, and videography for all platforms the Town of Cornelius utilizes)
• Creates press releases, newsletters, and reports
• Responds to resident inquiries
• Performs other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, English, spelling, and arithmetic
• Skill in the operation of office machines and equipment, such as cameras and video equipment
• Ability to perform tasks of a specialized or technical nature as may be required by the specific division/department assigned
• Ability to be well-organized, maintain attention to detail, work independently, and stay on task
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Education and Experience

Minimum requirement of graduation from a standard high school or equivalent GED. Preference for communications experience, degree, or pursuing degree in communications or related field. Preference for local government experience. 

Equipment Operated

Personal computer, D750 camera, GoPro, Drone, printer, calculator, copier, telephone equipment, recorder, and other assigned office equipment.

Special Requirements

Must have a valid Driver's license. Be aware of social media trends and active on all platforms the Town uses to monitor content and keep up with the changing trends and communication methods. 

Physical Demands

Work is of a sedentary nature, requiring some physical activity such as walking, reaching, stooping, and repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers. Exposure to atmospheric conditions normally associated with office-type work.
