Job Details Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Charlottesville, VA Duration: 13 weeks Shift Duration: 12-hour nights Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule; may also work 36 or 48 hours per week Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 - $2,100 Start Date: 10/12/2026 Orientation: 24 hours Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2, with 1:1 or 2:1 for higher-acuity assignments Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends per 6-week schedule Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Floating: May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics as needed Charting System: Epic experience required Time Off: Up to 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract; no additional RTO after offer acceptance Job Requirements Active Registered Nurse license; pending Virginia RN license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before the start date Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar pediatric critical care or PICU setting BLS and PALS certifications required Epic EHR experience required BSN preferred Ability to work nights and function effectively in a high-acuity pediatric critical care environment Strong experience with pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patients preferred Ability to provide required references and complete submission compliance items Responsibilities Deliver expert nursing care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity PICU Monitor and manage complex cardiac and medical critical care patients Support patients requiring advanced therapies and equipment such as ECMO, VADs, and CRRT Perform bedside assessments, interventions, and ongoing clinical surveillance Assist with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube care, central line management, and other specialized PICU skills Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners Float within scope of practice to support NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics when needed Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and support safe, family-centered care Apply now to join this travel PICU nursing job in Charlottesville, Virginia and make an impact in pediatric critical care today.
