Medical Assistant - Dermatology (North Tampa & Wesley Chapel)

Medical Assistant Position

Academic Alliance in Dermatology is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support our providers in North Tampa and Wesley Chapel, FL. The position will be based in our North Tampa office with travel to the Wesley Chapel clinic on Thursdays. This role involves assisting with patient care, procedures, and clinical operations in a fast-paced dermatology setting.

Academic Alliance in Dermatology, an affiliate of Anne Arundel Dermatology, has 23 locations throughout Southwest & Central Florida. For over 30 years, Academic Alliance in Dermatology has been providing patients with premier medical and cosmetic dermatology services. Led by renowned expert Dr. Panos Vasiloudes and backed by the most innovative and cutting-edge equipment, our team expertly diagnoses and treats a wide variety of dermatological conditions.

Responsibilities include escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining and recording vital signs, organizing patient flow, setting up procedure trays, preparing lab specimens, responding to patient questions, calibrating and sterilizing equipment, maintaining infection control, ordering and restocking supplies, documenting medical instructions, administering anesthesia, and ensuring timely responses to phone messages and faxes. Must maintain HIPAA compliance and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include the ability to triage patient problems, familiarity with OSHA/HIPAA, infection control, and blood borne pathogen standards, experience measuring vital signs, administering injections, knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes, knowledge of office financial policies, basic computer skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to function well in a high-paced environment, ability to work cooperatively with staff, patients, and visitors, ability to travel to satellite offices, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work well both individually and as part of a team, ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, and ability to spell, sort, and file materials correctly.

Education and experience required include a high school graduate or GED, completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or a bachelor's degree in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant track, CPR certification, 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience, and previous experience in Dermatology.

Physical requirements include standing and walking for extended periods, talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing, use of hands and fingers, talking and listening in person and on the telephone, handling of materials, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds, and risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
