Accountant

General Accounting PositionThis position will include all aspects of general accounting. Responsible for maintaining subsidiary ledgers, preparing journal entries, account reconciliation & analysis. Tasks will include tracking, analyzing and reporting of accruals & various data sets, as well as perform routine accounting duties that support specific business activities and the Accounting Department. Performs standard and ad-hoc reporting, specific other analysis as directed. Investigate specific transactions, procedures and activities that interfere with and/or create obstruction in accounting transactions & processes. Assist with the development and implementation of changes as necessary.ResponsibilitiesPerform a variety, under supervision, of professional level accounting functionsGeneral accounting duties including journal entry preparation, accounts payable review and problem resolution, inventory transaction research and inventory reporting, sales tax reportingPrepare monthly account reconciliations & required analysis timely and accuratelyMonth-end/ year-end closing activitiesTest, document, and pull records for audit requestDocument processes and cross-train in other aspects of accounting department as neededOther duties/projects as may be assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting requiredTwo (2) to Five (5) years of accounting experienceHigh level of understanding of inventory transactions & AP processes, complex transactions and ability to follow-up and resolve issuesAbility to prioritize and manage time effectively. Must be flexible and multi-task orientedWorking understanding of foreign exchange transactions.Ability to follow-up on multiple issues timelyDemonstrated skills and knowledge of general accounting, financial analysis, reporting requirements and computer applicationsKnowledge of internal control policies & proceduresMust be able to work with minimal oversight with attention to accuracy and timelinessBe able to develop and maintain relationships with diplomacy and tactProficiency in MS Office required. Daily use of Excel - intermediate/advanced level needed, including proficiency with lookups and pivot tables a plus. Solid understanding of Access desiredExcellent oral and written communication skillsMust align with the Snap-on mission statementMust wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes; Hi-Vis Vest, Steel Toe Shoes, Safety Glasses or Prescription Safety Glasses (If Applicable), Gloves (If Applicable), and Ear Plugs (If Applicable).Must adhere to safety guidelines
