Hydroelectric Plant Electrician Apprentice The Department of Water Resources is hiring a Hydroelectric Plant Electrician Apprentice (HEP Electrician I). The apprentice will work under close supervision of the HEP Electrical Supervisor and guidance of an HEP Electrician I to assist and receive training in the installation, maintenance, repair, reconditioning, or modification of large complex equipment in hydroelectric pumping or generating plants and associated facilities. Job Summary This entry‑level role involves hands‑on work with hydroelectric plant electrical systems, following safety, quality and operational standards while developing technical skills under experienced supervision. Responsibilities Assist with installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical equipment in hydroelectric plants. Work under the guidance of senior electricians and the electrical supervisor. Follow safety and environmental protocols specific to hydroelectric facilities. Maintain accurate work logs and documentation as required. Minimum Requirements Valid California Class C Driver’s License. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Eligibility to attend the apprenticeship training program. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and adhere to shift schedules. Desirable Qualifications Effective communication and teamwork skills. Consistent and reliable attendance. Good judgment and the ability to follow procedures. Work Location Multiple locations across California. The position requires on‑site work in hydropower plants and associated facilities. Salary $4,605.00 – $7,535.00 per month, based on experience and location. New to state candidates will be hired at the lowest salary for the classification.
