POSITION TITLE: Student Assistant Buildings and Grounds
DEPARTMENT: Building and Grounds
REPORTS TO: Director of Building and Grounds

JOB SUMMARY

Assist full-time and part-time staff with the maintenance, cleanliness, and general upkeep of exterior facilities to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform landscape maintenance of school grounds
Remove trash and maintain exterior cleanliness
Assist with playground and field maintenance
Perform light custodial duties as needed, including during inclement weather
Assist with cleaning classrooms and school buildings
Assist with moving furniture and equipment
Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and reside within the boundaries of Hoover-Schrum School District 157 (Calumet City)
Demonstrated ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to fifty (50) pounds from ground to waist level, bending, and working in outdoor environments
Basic knowledge of custodial and/or maintenance practices preferred
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, communicate effectively, and work cooperatively with staff
Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and willingness to learn

WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties are primarily performed outdoors and may include exposure to heat, humidity, and light precipitation. Work assignments will be moved indoors only during inclement weather conditions that present safety concerns.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
Monday - Friday 8am - 1pm (20hrs/wk) (7 weeks)
Hourly Rate: $17.51/hr
