The team you'd be joining The Flexibility-as-a-Service (FaaS) team is Octopus's tip of the spear for the distributed energy revolution in North America. We turn distributed energy resources — home batteries, EVs, heat pumps, smart thermostats — into virtual power plants that balance the grid, earn customers money, and make room for more renewables. We are small, we move quickly, and we're building something that doesn't really exist yet. We live at the messy, exciting intersection of wholesale markets, utility programs, regulatory policy, and commercial strategy. That means the work is varied, the priorities shift, and the opportunities show up fast — sometimes with very little notice. The role This is a generalist role for someone who likes wearing a lot of hats and switching between them without losing the thread. One day you might be helping draft regulatory comments for a utility commission proceeding. The next, you're pulling apart wholesale market pricing to shape a dispatch strategy. The day after that, you're building the deck for a business development pitch or turning around an RFP response on a tight deadline.
