Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Accountant based in Louisville, KY . The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance & Accounting team, responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and providing accurate financial reporting. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance & Controller, this role partners cross-functionally with business unit leaders to drive financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. Competitive base salary ranging from $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and company holidays Professional development and CPA exam support Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Month-End Close Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP. Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, escalating complex issues to the Controller as appropriate. Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for external auditors and internal review. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Develop and maintain financial reports and dashboards to support management decision-making. Assist in the preparation of board and executive-level financial packages. Analyze financial results and variances against budget and prior periods, providing clear commentary and insights. Budgeting & Forecasting Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes in collaboration with the Controller and FP&A team. Track actuals versus budget and forecast, identifying trends and flagging potential risks or opportunities. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure all accounting activities comply with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting, identifying gaps and recommending improvements. Assist in coordinating external audits and responding to auditor inquiries. Support tax preparation activities, including coordination with external tax advisors. Process Improvement & Special Projects Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function. Participate in cross-functional projects including system implementations, acquisitions, and operational initiatives. Provide mentorship and day-to-day guidance to junior accounting staff as needed. Qualifications Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Experience Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and corporate roles. Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to month-end and year-end close processes. Experience in a mid-size corporate environment preferred. Technical Skills Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar); advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Experience with financial reporting and consolidation tools is a plus. Core Competencies Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
