divh2Health Care Technician/h2pUnder the direction of a nurse, the health care technician functions as a support to the licensed nursing staff and performs activities related to the personal care and hygiene needs of an assigned patient group. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. Serves as a public relations liaison for the unit. Works under the direct supervision of the nursing manager./ppCertifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required), Work Experience: Relevant medical military training; At least one semester of nursing clinical experience; Completion of CNA coursework within past 24 months; Successful completion of Carles HCT In Training Program; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); Worked as CNA within past 24 months/ppResponsibilities:/pulliPerforms or assists patients with the activities of daily living./liliPrepares patients for transportation and/or transport./liliCollects data on assigned patients as directed by a nurse and ensures accurate documentation./liliAssists with the maintenance of unit supplies to ensure the smooth function of the unit, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts./liliDemonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills as outlined in the skills checklist including: measurement of vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and measuring and recording intake and output./liliFacilitates transportation of patients both to and away from the discharge unit/liliCleaning and sanitizing of unit rooms between patient occupancy/liliAssists the nurse in retrieving items as needed by the discharge unit including but not limited to pharmacy medication, patient care supplies, and patient nourishment/li/ul/div
