Principal Scientist, Biology

Xaira Therapeutics seeks a Principal Scientist in Biology to lead inflammatory and immunology programs, combining hands-on research with strategic program direction. The role involves designing therapeutic strategies, validating targets, and conducting bench work with primary human and mouse immune cells.

Responsibilities

• Set scientific direction for therapeutic programs and validate disease biology targets
• Design and oversee in vitro and in vivo studies guiding lead candidate development
• Generate actionable insights from experimental data for cross-functional teams
• Personally execute and troubleshoot key experiments at the bench
• Mentor junior scientists and establish best practices within the department

Requirements

• PhD in Immunology or related field with 6+ years experience
• First-author publications and presentation track record
• Ability to independently define research strategy and interpret complex data
• Experience generating and prioritizing novel target hypotheses
• Expertise in primary immune assays, co-culture systems, and flow cytometry
• Hands-on lab proficiency in functional immunology assays
