Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is looking for Glaucoma Specialist to join our team of comprehensive and subspecialist ophthalmologists in sunny Southern Arizona. At the Southern Arizona VA, will primarily manage tertiary care glaucoma mixed with comprehensive ophthalmology mentoring of residents from the University of Arizona Ophthalmology Residency. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.

Duties will include providing a full spectrum of eye care including but not limited to:

• Support of cataract procedures, both performing and teaching/assisting the residents;
• Managing, both medical and surgical patients with a wide spectrum of glaucoma,
• Perform a variety of anterior segment laser surgeries with YAG SLT, and Argon lasers;
• Taking Ophthalmology call on a regular basis commensurate with other faculty
• Collaborating with other physician specialists and medical staff in overall treatment of patient medical conditions;
• Communicating with patients and family members educating them to understand their medical condition;
• Completing clinical charting and documentation appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Staffing of residents in the clinic and OR: The majority being anterior segment disorders with emphasis on glaucoma
• Coverage of residents on call on a rotational basis.
• Coverage of urgent patients in the clinic on a rotational basis

The applicant should be board certified (or board eligible if within 2 years of residency). Strong preference will be given to fellowship trained glaucoma specialists. Will report to the Clinical Director of Ophthalmology. Specialists and other physicians are available for consultation. The Ophthalmologist shall be expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, improvement and with other performance improvement activities.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
