Radiology - X-ray Tech

Radiologic Technologist

Administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operates X-ray equipment and develops files. Prepares patient's room, equipment, supplies, and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific X-rays. Adjusts equipment and determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain patient position. Adjusts lead shield and selects proper film. Determines technique for ionizing radiation during radiologic exams. Prepares barium preparations and other chemical mixtures for X-rays. Observes patients and machines during procedures and reports unusual occurrences. Records patient's condition. Develops film in accordance with photographic techniques. Cleans and disinfects X-ray room and equipment. Prepares patients for X-rays by explaining procedures and assisting them. Explains exams and equipment to patients and/or family. Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties. Writes reports and takes mobile X-ray unit to patient's room. Inspects emergency trays and writes weekly reports. Transports patients and maintains radiographic technique charts. Provides formal and informal education based on identified staff/peer needs.

Must-Have:

• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• RD ARRT certification
• State Radiologic Tech license
• Familiarity with GE X-ray equipment
