We’re supporting our client, a leading plastics manufacturer based in Freeport, New York who are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join their growing team. The successful Maintenance Supervisor will have experience as a general maintenance mechanic, as well as experience working with injection molding machines.

Job Summary:

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for all electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing repairs, and maintenance activities in the plant. This includes both production machinery & equipment, and general building maintenance. As well as scheduling, executing, and documenting all repair and preventive maintenance activities in the facility.

Responsibilities:

• Repair all production and non-production equipment to always ensure operability and efficiency. This includes molding machines, robots, grinders, chillers, thermolators, dryers, assembly equipment, glue machines, assembly equipment, shrink wrapping machine, well water system, air compressors, and other equipment.
• Plan, execute and document preventive maintenance on all plant and facility equipment.
• Perform all building maintenance requirements.This includes replacing/repairing HVAC filters, restroom fixtures, emergency lights, exhaust fans, plumbing, lighting etc.
• Maintain a good working relationship with all our subcontractors/vendors for electrical, roof, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, spare parts, supplies etc. Getting estimates and planning repairs, maintenance, or unit replacements with them.
• Maintain a spare parts inventory for manufacturing. Order cleaning supplies, spare parts, toolroom materials and supplies and manufacturing supplies as needed.
• Ensure all production equipment has the appropriate safety guarding as well as make sure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
• Complete special assignments and projects as directed by the Plant Manager.

About You:

• 5 - 10 years’ experience as a general maintenance mechanic.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience working with injection molding machines.
• Must have an aptitude for electrical circuits, mechanical systems, hydraulics, HVAC, plumbing, and pneumatics.
• Must have a strong working knowledge of plant and facility repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of take out robots is a plus.
• Familiarity with MS Office and ERP Systems.
• Must be able to manage a spare parts inventory and place purchase orders for spare parts, building and cleaning supplies and repair components.
• Good relationship-building abilities and communication skills, both written and verbal.
