Field Claims Specialist II, Material Damage (South Sacramento, Elk Grove, Stockton Corridor)

Job Overview Field Claims Specialist II – Material Damage working from home with regional travel within the South Sacramento, Elk Grove, Stockton corridor. Duties include onsite and virtual inspections, with occasional overnight travel and catastrophe (CAT) duty. Location and Travel Home‑based with daily and regional field travel in the same corridor, company‑provided vehicle for on‑site inspections. Key Responsibilities Handle assigned claims promptly and efficiently with minimal direction, making decisions within delegated authority. Determine proper policy coverages and apply best claims practices to conclude cases per company guidelines. Open, close and adjust reserves to ensure adequacy, recommending special reserves as necessary. Maintain current knowledge of insurance, product changes, local repair procedures and market pricing, attending seminars and training as required. Submit severe incident reports, reinsurance reports and other information to claims management. Partner with Special Investigations Unit and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities. Deliver outstanding customer service to all internal, external and prospective customers. Mentor less experienced associates and assist with training and presentations as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. State licensing where required and successful completion of required or applicable claims certification training or classes. Professional development such as IIA or CPCU preferred. Three to five years of successful experience in customer service and/or claims handling required, with material/physical damage experience preferred. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Demonstrated knowledge of customer service principles, insurance operations and multiple property casualty lines of business. Knowledge of material/physical damage repair processes, vendor management and all related claims systems. Proven analytical skills and ability to establish repair requirements and cost estimates for extensive losses. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to operate personal computer and related software.
