Science Teacher

Job Title Science Teacher Position Summary At CHCCS, a teacher's goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world. Essential Duties Develops lesson plans and instructional materials Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to the students Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interprets the school program Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and through self-selected professional growth activities Participates in curriculum development programs as required Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities Instructs pupils in a classroom utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction Evaluates pupil performance and growth using a variety of formative and summative evaluation tools Collaborates with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment for pupils Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Education/Experience Requirements Holds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license Bachelor's Degree required Prior teaching experience preferred Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable Physical Requirements Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards Job Details Salary Schedule: Certified; CHCCS Salary Schedule Reports To: School Principal Salary Grade: Teacher, eligible for local supplement Work Location: Phillips Middle School FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: 10 Month #J-18808-Ljbffr Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools
