Accounts Payable Clerk

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Location: Albany, GA

Employment Type: Full-Time Temporary or Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices and payments to vendors and service providers. The ideal candidate will have strong data entry skills, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for payment.
• Verify invoice accuracy and ensure proper approvals are obtained.
• Reconcile processed work by comparing entries and system reports to balances.
• Charge expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records and filing systems.
• Monitor payment schedules and prepare checks or electronic payments.
• Resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, and payment discrepancies.
• Reconcile vendor statements and monthly account transactions.
• Ensure payment credits and outstanding memos are applied correctly.
• Issue stop payments and purchase order amendments when necessary.
• Track and report sales and use tax requirements.
• Verify expense reports and supporting documentation.
• Correspond with vendors regarding billing questions and payment status.
• Analyze accounts and maintain accounting ledgers.
• Protect confidential financial information.
• Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Previous experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or accounting preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and telephones.

Compensation & Benefits

• $18.00 per hour
• Monday through Friday schedule
