A growing utility engineering and design firm is seeking a Senior Distribution Designer to support electric utility projects for a major Maryland utility client. This individual will serve as a Senior technical resource responsible for distribution design activities, quality assurance reviews, and overall design quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong utility design experience, advanced MicroStation capabilities, and the ability to review and validate engineering deliverables prior to client submission. The Senior Designer will work closely with engineers, designers, project stakeholders, and utility clients to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with client standards. This individual should be highly dependable, self-motivated, and capable of mentoring less experienced design staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review electric distribution designs for utility infrastructure projects.

• Create, edit, and review design packages and construction drawings using MicroStation.

• Support engineering and design deliverables using utility CAD platforms.

• Review completed design packages for accuracy and quality before submission.

• Identify design deficiencies and ensure client standards are met.

• Act as a technical resource for less experienced designers.

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project stakeholders, and utility clients.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of utility distribution design experience.

• Proficiency with MicroStation.

• Strong electric distribution design background.

• Experience reviewing and approving design packages.

• QA/QC experience.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage workload independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior BGE experience strongly preferred.

• Experience with BGE standards, processes, and client expectations.

• Experience supporting ongoing BGE engineering and design programs or Exelon, Delmarva, and Pepco.

• Familiarity with IntelliSuite.

Work Environment

The work environment offers a hybrid schedule with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Monday and Friday. The office is located in White Marsh, MD, with plans for a new, larger office due to company growth. The atmosphere is casual and team-oriented, providing high autonomy for dependable employees. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
