Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Santa Maria, California.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Labor and Delivery\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week nights assignment requiring CA RN licensure, advanced fetal monitoring certification, and c-section circulating experience.Details\n \n Acute care Level III trauma hospital setting on a combined L&D/Postpartum unit\n 14 L&D beds, 6 triage beds, 2 OR suites, and 28 postpartum beds\n Unit averages 250 births per month\n Patient population includes any gestational age, antepartum, high-risk deliveries, substance abuse, pre-eclampsia, and insulin-dependent diabetics\n Nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1 for laboring patients (AWHONN guidelines) and 1:4 for couplet care\n Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link fetal heart monitoring system\n Philips telemetry equipment used; no ventilator management required\n 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a\n Every other weekend required\n No on-call requirement, though standby may be needed\n Holiday coverage worked in with permanent staff rotation\n Float requirement to postpartum unit; postpartum staff do not float to L&D\n 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided\n Charge nurse typically does not carry a patient assignment\n OB tech support available on both day and night shifts\n RT and pharmacy support available 24/7\n No dedicated IV team; OB/neonatologist not in-house but available if needed\n Requirements\n \n Active CA RN license required\n Minimum 2 years of experience required\n Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)\n C-section circulating experience required; scrubbing experience preferred\n Postpartum staff must hold BLS and NRP certifications\n Driver's license copy required for consideration\n Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care across labor, delivery, and postpartum units\n Circulate for c-section procedures as needed\n Navy scrubs provided for postpartum staff; seal blue scrubs provided for OB tech and L&D nurses\n First-time travelers may be considered for this role\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-751875.
