Legal Support Services Technician - Circuit Court, Calendar & Caseflow Management

Job Title

This position is responsible for scheduling juvenile delinquency and CINA case hearings within the Circuit Court.

Starting salary hiring range: $24.59 - $27.73/Hourly $51,139 - $57,673/Annually. This is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. Please note that the final salary will be determined by the Office of Circuit Court, commensurate with experience and aligned to ensure internal equity with similarly situated roles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Calendar and Case Scheduling:

• Sets juvenile court events within established Calendar Management procedures and differentiated case management plans.
• Assists with the preparation of Master and Hybrid Calendars in Excel.
• Assists in the scheduling of all other court events as needed.
• Assists in scheduling meetings between the Circuit Court, Department of Juvenile Services, State's Attorney's Office, Office of the Public Defender, Clerk's Office, Sheriff's Department, and other related agencies/persons.
• Contacts counsel to obtain updated information on future trials.

Public, Attorney, and Agency Support:

• Assists the public, attorneys, and related state agencies by providing information about the status of juvenile cases or court procedures at the counter and by telephone.
• Serves as an informational resource for the public and related agencies regarding juvenile case procedure and scheduling.
• Reports juvenile case information to other state agencies, as appropriate.

Case File and Data Management:

• Assists the Family Law Division in the processing and maintenance of case files.
• Reviews open case report to determine status of cases.
• Compiles data regarding domestic violence cases on a weekly basis.

Cross-Functional and Backup Responsibilities:

• Serves as backup to the Court Interpreter Coordinator.
• Serves as backup to the criminal case manager.
• Serves as backup to Court Report.

Other Duties:

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education/Experience

Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred education, knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Experience within the court system working with juvenile cases.
• Working knowledge of juvenile delinquency and CINA court procedures is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Windows based applications with an emphasis on Excel.
• Understanding of State and County court structure is preferred.
• The ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of professionals (judges, attorneys, court personnel, the public, etc.).
• Excellent organizational skills, the ability to establish priorities, be adaptable, and multi-task oriented.

Language skills, mathematical skills and reasoning ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using proper grammar, syntax and spelling. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
