Position overview:

The Small Business Card organization is seeking a portfolio leader to own the profit and loss performance and overall direction of an assigned card. Operating as the business owner for the product, this individual will connect customer experience, benefits, partnerships, marketing, risk, and financial performance into one integrated strategy.

The likely scope is within the rewards portfolio, which includes products such as Reserve for Business and Ink Business Preferred, although the exact assignment is still being determined.

The role may initially provide broad portfolio leadership while covering a four-month team leave beginning in January, then transition into permanent ownership of a defined card portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Own the P&L, business strategy, performance, and roadmap for an assigned Small Business Card product.

Serve as the central subject-matter owner for the card and maintain an integrated view of customers, economics, benefits, marketing, partnerships, credit risk, and operations.

Monitor business performance, identify drivers and emerging issues, and initiate actions that improve growth, engagement, retention, and profitability.

Evaluate the product value proposition and identify white-space opportunities to evolve the card rather than simply maintain the existing business.

Partner with Corporate Development and other teams to assess new partnerships, evaluate existing partnerships, and determine where benefits or alliances should change.

Guide what should be marketed, to whom, and through which channels in partnership with marketing and customer-experience teams.

Work with risk partners to understand portfolio performance, balance growth and credit outcomes, and make informed commercial decisions.

Lead cross-functional product changes through business cases, project plans, approvals, customer communications, marketing, legal, compliance, and implementation.

Operate effectively in ambiguity, establish priorities without a predefined playbook, and create momentum across teams that own individual components of the card.

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience owning or materially influencing a consumer or small-business product P&L.

Strong understanding of card or lending economics, customer behavior, product positioning, marketing, risk, and financial-performance levers.

Experience managing a product or business across multiple functional owners, including marketing, finance, risk, partnerships, operations, legal, and technology.

Ability to diagnose performance, identify growth or optimization opportunities, and convert insights into an executable commercial roadmap.

Track record of operating independently in ambiguous environments and proactively advancing a business without a fixed playbook.

Strong executive communication and the judgment to serve as the central business owner for a complex financial product.

Preferred Qualifications:

Direct ownership of a credit-card portfolio or comparable premium-card product.

Experience with rewards cards, premium benefits, partner ecosystems, or products comparable to those offered by American Express or Capital One.

Experience developing card business cases, financial models, product changes, and multi-year roadmaps.

Knowledge of Small Business Card customers and their spend, borrowing, servicing, and rewards needs.

Success in the first six months:

Develop a complete understanding of the assigned card P&L, customer base, performance drivers, risks, partnerships, and value proposition.

Provide immediate portfolio leadership and maintain business continuity during the anticipated team leave.

Integrate into the 2027 roadmap and take ownership of full project plans for priority card changes.

Identify actionable white-space, partnership, marketing, benefit, customer-experience, or risk opportunities that can improve long-term performance.
