Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a BMT/Oncology unit position requiring BMT or heme/onc experience and an active CO or Compact RN license.

Details

Work in a 51-bed Cellular Therapies/BMT-Oncology unit caring for patients with blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T.

Rotating day/night shifts (4x12 hours), various days of the week.

Weekend shifts required per unit needs.

No on-call requirements.

Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4:1, with flexibility based on staffing and unit needs.

Float required between BMT/Onc and CTU units, and potentially to sister facilities within the metro region.

Uses Epic charting system.

Navy scrub color required.

Requirements

Active RN license (CO or Compact) required.

AHA BLS certification required.

Oncology Nursing certification (ONC) required.

Chemotherapy administration certification (ONS/ONCC) required.

Minimum 2 years acute care BMT/Heme experience with chemotherapy administration required.

Prior travel nursing experience required.

Comfortable working in environments with flexible/flexing nurse-to-patient ratios.

Skilled in care and management of central lines, ports, and administration of blood/blood products.

Experienced in administration and monitoring of chemotherapy, including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral administration.

Knowledgeable in management of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression.

Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other blood dyscrasias.

Skilled in symptom management including nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status.

Additional Information

Provide direct care to inpatient oncology and BMT patients, including those undergoing stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy.

Manage neutropenic precautions and chest tube care as needed.

Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage graft-versus-host disease symptoms.

Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods where time off is not permitted.

No blocked scheduling requests allowed.

Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment.

Local candidates accepted, with reduced pay rate for those residing within 75 miles of the facility.

First-time travelers will not be considered for this role.

Previous UCHealth employees may be ineligible for consideration based on facility policy.

Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year.
