Shift Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Location Singing River Pascagoula Hospital Position Overview The Medical Office Coordinator facilitates excellence in patient care by welcoming patients and managing clerical functions. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prefer Associate’s Degree in related field. License N/A Certifications N/A Experience Minimum of two (2) years’ progressively responsible medical office experience required. Previous CPT and ICD Coding experience preferred. Previous insurance and precertification experience preferred. Phlebotomy Experience Preferred. Reports to Practice Administrator, Practice Manager, or Office Manager – as applicable. Supervises None Physical Demands Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves exposure to body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard. Requires good vision and ability to adjust eye focus from computer monitor to close printed material. Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without undue fatigue and work schedules that may change according to hospital needs. Mental Demands Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment, and decision-making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication, speaking, and writing skills. Must possess emotional stability to handle high stress levels and work under pressure. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in complex situations required. Must maintain collaborative relationships with SRHS and other organizations. Special Demands Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must be proficient in computer use, including MS Outlook, Word, and other office technology. Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment with patients of all ages.
