Phlebotomist

Location: Thomasville, NC | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to support its laboratory operations on a contract basis with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection, handling, and processing that supports quality patient care and diagnostic testing. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance and decontamination data Update patient information and maintain accurate records Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Minimum 2 years of experience Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a contract opportunity with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement, offering a consistent Monday through Friday daytime schedule and available benefits. #J-18808-Ljbffr
