The firm handles a broad range of legal matters, including complex multiparty and class-action lawsuits. Its attorneys regularly appear in both federal and state courts, providing comprehensive advocacy across diverse practice areas.\n\nRole Description\n\n Managing litigation matters from the preparation and filing of responsive pleadings through trial.\n Propounding and responding to discovery.\n Summarizing and evaluating medical records.\n Conducting and defending depositions of parties, witnesses and experts.\n Briefing responses and motions with solid legal research and comprehensive writing experience.\n Interviewing clients and fact witnesses and gathering evidence to defend lawsuit.\n Working with claim representatives and clients to evaluate and defend lawsuits and developing trial strategies.\n Preparing status reports to carriers and evaluations of claims, potential verdict awards and appropriate settlement ranges.\n Meeting strict deadlines, including but not limited to those imposed by courts, rules and/or carriers.\n Working in a team environment with paralegals and legal secretaries to propound written discovery requests and responses, ordering and summarizing records, coordinating depositions, obtaining experts and preparing for depositions and trial.\n Maintaining billable hours.\n\n\nQualifications\n\n JD from an accredited law school.\n Admitted to practice in the state of Texas.\n 3-5 years of defense litigation experience (preferred).\n Top 25% graduating class rank.\n Prior insurance defense experience is not required but preferred.\n Must be driven, self-starter, and able to independently manage a heavy and fast paced caseload.\n 3-5 years of experience with strong litigation skills, including discovery, conducting depositions, court appearances, and trial preparation background.\n Personal experience in case development, including the investigation of facts, interviewing of clients and witnesses, expert retention and the development of defense strategy.\n Must be able to work well under strict deadlines.\n Ability to multitask effectively.\n Ability to work well in team environment with partners, associates, paralegals and legal secretaries to ensure cases are thoroughly developed throughout litigation and up to trial.\n Ability to work with little supervision; independent thinker and problem-solver.\n Excellent communication skills (oral and written); be an effective and persuasive advocate in hearings and at trial; able to communicate effectively with claim representatives, clients and counsel.\n Personal experience in case development, including the investigation of facts, interviewing of clients and witnesses, expert retention, the development of defense strategy and reports.\n\n
