SOCIAL WORKER II (UMP)

Position Overview The Division of Developmental Disabilities is hiring a Social Worker II for the Ludeman Developmental Center in Park Forest, Illinois. The role involves administering professional social work services, applying social work principles and techniques in the evaluation, problem identification and treatment of adults with complex emotional and psycho-social disorders, and determining and developing sources of information and services to facilitate client treatment. Anticipated Salary (Effective 7/1/26): $6,460–$9,337/month ($77,520–$112,044/year). This is a salaried, full‑time position. This position is a union position; therefore, provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement/labor contract apply to the filling of this position. This title is within the Upward Mobility Program (UMP). Essential Functions Administers professional social work services involving the application of social work principles and techniques in the evaluation, problem identification and treatment of adults manifesting complex emotional and psycho-social disorders. Evaluates clinical problems of individuals. Develops treatment strategies and evaluates group, individual and family counseling sessions. Identifies options for best practice treatment interventions in lieu of restraint/seclusion as part of a treatment team. Evaluates community provider services for future placement in light of needs of individuals. Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in social work from a recognized college or university, supplemented by one (1) year of professional social work experience in the evaluation and treatment/habilitation of mentally ill, developmentally disabled or other disabled persons. This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title. Conditions of Employment Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law. Work Hours and Location Monday – Friday, choose one of the following shifts: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, working one Saturday or Sunday (12:30 pm – 9:00 pm) every 8 weeks, with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch break.
