Job Details We are seeking a skilled and detailed oriented Cytotechnologist to join our Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) services team. Under the general direction of the Cytology Supervisor and Pathologist, the Cytotechnologist will be responsible for assisting with Rapid On-Site Evaluations (ROSE) procedures in one or more Catholic Health hospital sites as well as performing microscopic evaluations on Non-Gynecologic and Gynecologic specimens. Responsibilities: Following departmental protocol, perform Rapid On-Site Evaluations of FNA specimens to determine specimen adequacy independently and/ or by collaborating with a Pathologist. Microscopically examine slide preparations for cytologic evaluation, correlating clinical information with morphologic findings to make a final diagnosis on negative gynecologic slides and render a microscopic evaluation on abnormal gynecologic and all non‑gynecologic pending diagnosis by pathologist. Microscopically examine slides thoroughly and systematically, evaluate the adequacy of specimens for diagnostic purposes; consider quantity, quality, and preservation of cellular material; evaluate cytopathologic observations as it relates to specimen source and advise supervisor or pathologist on non‑conformities. Capable of troubleshooting test anomalies and system problems in a logical manner to ensure accurate testing Respond to supply and equipment issues in a timely manner to ensure optimum operations and equipment quality. Ensure supplies are well stocked, and communicate supply needs Follow the laboratory’s pre-analytic and analytic procedures. Adhere to NYSDOH workload limits and maintains workload records. Adhere to the department's quality control policies and ensure documentation of all quality control activities, instrument, and maintenance performed. Establish and implement service priorities, workflow patterns; monitor workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services. Core Skills: Knowledge of cytology and technical lab understanding Attention to detail, communication, problem solving, reliability, time management Computer literacy Experience in performing Rapid On-Site Evaluation procedures preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years Cytotechnologist experience preferred. Requirements: Baccalaureate Degree with formal training from a CAHEA-accredited school of Cytotechnology. Licensed as a Cytotechnologist under the New York State Department of Education. Certified in Cytotechnology by certifying agency approved by HHS (ASCP). Thinprep Certification Salary Range USD $58.41 - USD $74.36 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
