Calibration Technician

Position The Calibration Technician assists and supports the organization with initial compliance and ongoing preparation, testing and monitoring of conformance to established quality assurance processes and standards for calibration. Performs calibration and evaluation of internal controls, communications, and periodic review of documentation as related to compliance with internal and external safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Identifies deficiencies and/or failures while working with internal departments/business units to appropriately remedy them. Applies advanced knowledge and skills to complete assignments requiring judgement and initiative, and maintains and continuously improves the quality system to achieve quality objectives through daily actions. Key Responsibilities Perform calibration in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs). Identify measurement errors and contributing factors that may result in inaccurate measurements. Perform routine maintenance on instrumentation in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. Evaluate internal controls, communications, and risk assessments. Conduct periodic review of documentation related to compliance with internal and external safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Issue department communications, including any reporting required for tracking instrumentation. Initiate Out of Calibration Reports (OCRs) for failing instruments. Handle instrumentation work that may require occasional exposure to cold temperatures. Ship, track, and receive deliverable instrumentation. Process calibration documentation within the calibration database. Requirements High school diploma plus 1 to 3 years prior experience in calibration of equipment or other relevant experience. Understanding of basic statistics. Strong computer and math skills. Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet applications with an emphasis on Excel. Proficient in customer service skills. Technical writing ability. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted. Preferred Requirements (Not Mandatory) Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a technical field. Experience working with databases such as SAP, RAM, CALMAN, MS Access. Military service in calibration field highly regarded. Experienced and aware of ISO 9000 and/or ISO 17025 quality assurance programs. Pay & Benefits Expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis is $56,100.00 – $104,100.00 USD annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
