Title IX Coordinator & HR Compliance Specialist

Summary of Position The Title IX Coordinator & HR Compliance Specialist serves as Trevecca Nazarene University's designated Title IX Coordinator and as a professional member of the Human Resources team. The position coordinates the University's response to reports of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation and supports compliance with applicable civil rights requirements. The position also has responsibility for assigned Human Resources and compliance functions, including employee relations, workplace investigations, onboarding, employee training, policy administration, required disclosures, and compliance documentation. Responsibilities may fluctuate based on Title IX activity, regulatory requirements, and the operational needs of the Human Resources office. Duties and Responsibilities Serves as the University's designated Title IX Coordinator and primary contact for Title IX reports, complaints, questions, and compliance matters. Leads and coordinates intake, supportive measures, investigations, informal and formal resolution processes, appeals, remedies, and appropriate follow-up. Conducts or coordinates impartial investigations involving students, employees, and third parties and maintains complete and confidential case records. Receives and appropriately addresses or refers complaints involving protected-class discrimination, harassment, retaliation, ADA, or Section 504 concerns. Maintains current knowledge of applicable regulations and guidance and recommends updates to policies, procedures, training, and institutional practices in consultation with University leadership or legal counsel, as appropriate. Develops and coordinates education, training, and prevention programming related to Title IX, sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and reporting responsibilities. Identifies patterns, compliance gaps, or inconsistencies between University policy and practice and coordinates corrective measures with appropriate departments. Coordinates the University's compliance process for camps, programs, and activities involving minors. Assists with workplace investigations and employee-relations matters under the direction of the Director of Human Resources. Administers annual conflict-of-interest disclosures, confidential statements, policy acknowledgments, required certifications, and mandatory employee training. Owns tracking and follow-up for assigned compliance requirements and maintains accurate and confidential records of completion. Coordinates assigned HR policies, employee communications, personnel-record reviews, and other compliance-related HR processes. Responds to routine employee questions and provides backup support for other Human Resources functions based on departmental needs, experience, and training. Collaborates with campus partners and participates in University committees related to compliance, employee relations, student welfare, and institutional risk. Performs other duties consistent with the purpose and responsibilities of the position. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in human resources, higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, social work, public administration, compliance, or a related field. At least two years of related experience in Title IX, civil rights, investigations, human resources, employee relations, student affairs, compliance, or higher education administration. Experience handling sensitive and confidential information. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities, deadlines, and complex matters with accuracy and appropriate follow-through. Must complete University-approved Title IX Coordinator training within six months of hire. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in human resources, higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, social work, public administration, organizational leadership, or a related field. Experience serving as a Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, investigator, HR professional, student affairs professional, or compliance professional. Formal training related to Title IX coordination, civil rights investigations, workplace investigations, or employee relations. Experience conducting sensitive interviews, gathering and evaluating information, preparing written reports, or coordinating complaint-resolution processes. Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, training, or other Human Resources functions. Experience working in a higher education environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of Title IX and familiarity with Title VII, the Clery Act, VAWA, the Campus SaVE Act, ADA, Section 504, FERPA, and related regulations. Understanding of the dynamics of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, harassment, discrimination, trauma, and retaliation. Strong investigative, interviewing, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills. Ability to gather and evaluate information objectively and apply University policies and procedures consistently. Ability to exercise impartiality, discretion, sound judgment, and appropriate professional boundaries. Ability to recognize when consultation with the Director of Human Resources, University leadership, or legal counsel is appropriate. Ability to manage competing priorities and respond calmly and professionally to sensitive or urgent situations. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential, and appropriately restricted records. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, employees, supervisors, and University leadership. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HR, case-management, training, and document-management systems. Working Conditions Work is generally performed in an office environment, with occasional evening or nontraditional hours required for urgent matters, training, hearings, or University events.
