Assistant Kitchen Manager

Welcome to Petitgrain! Our little bakery in Santa Monica is looking for an assistant manager for our two very busy shops. This position is full time from Wednesday- Sunday or Tuesday-Saturday with an emphasis on the hours between 7am and 3:30pm.

Qualified candidates must be organized and efficient and exhibit kindness, flexibility and great customer service skills. Our bakery has an open kitchen and a small team, making it important to be able to move from back to front of house and help out where needed during bake-off and operating hours. Candidates must have at least one year of barista experience, some management experience in a food service establishment, strong organizational and task-oriented skills, a deep care for community and sourcing and interested in learning back of house baking skills to be considered. 

Experience with the following skills required in order to be considered for this position:
-Ordering and inventory management of ingredients and supplies
-Employee scheduling
-Managing and onboarding of employees
-Managing all food storage and FIFO procedures
-Assist in resolving issues and enforcing company policies with the owner
-Moving product and ingredients from one location to another
-Communicating with vendors from farmers market to local resources
-Managing retail products and inventory
-Working FOH and BOH for a portion of each day including but not limited to: serving customers, crafting drinks, baking off pastries, garnishing and some prep.
-Managing product pars, inventory and production lists.

In addition to the above-mentioned skills, this position requires lifting multiple 50 lbs bags of ingredients and boxes a day, organizing and re-organizing various parts of the bakery and working with the shift leads and owner daily. Fluency in Spanish is a plus! You must be open to performing all tasks required, including but not limited to restocking, working the register, taking orders, boxing up orders, greeting customers, mopping, deep cleaning, entering information on a laptop and working collaboratively. The most important quality for this position is strong interpersonal skills, empathy and critical thinking.
