Product Development Spray Technician

Key Responsibilities Perform in‑house spray application of polyurea, polyurethane, and coating systems in support of customer samples, sales work orders, and product evaluations. This role is responsible for executing spray operations, maintaining equipment, collecting application data, and supporting customer demonstrations and training activities. Production Spray Operations Execute spray application for: Customer samples Sales work orders Product development evaluations Apply coatings including: Polyurea (thick/thin film) Primers and topcoats Follow all TDS and application procedures Surface Preparation & Setup Perform surface preparation per AMPP/industry standards Set up spray equipment and environment: Booth conditions Temperature / humidity considerations Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate and maintain Graco proportioners (E-10, E-XP, H-XP, HFR) and spray guns (Fusion, P2, GX-8, etc.) Perform routine maintenance and cleaning Identify and report equipment issues Data Collection & Documentation Record and document film thickness, recoat windows, environmental conditions, surface profile and capture project photos and job records Customer Demonstrations and Support Support customer demos and evaluations Assist in showcasing proper application techniques Maintain professional customer-facing communication during visits Safety & Organization Follow all PPE and safety requirements Maintain clean and organized work area Qualifications Education Minimum Required: High School Diploma Preferred: 2-year vocational certification Experience Minimum Required: At least four (4) years of relevant work experience Preferred: Spray foam or industrial coating experience Job Specific Skills – Minimum Required Hands‑on experience with spray application of coatings (polyurea, polyurethane, or similar systems) Ability to set up and operate plug-in component spray equipment and related tools Ability to perform repeatable, high-quality spray applications based on defined process requirements Working knowledge of surface preparation methods, coating systems (primers, base coats, topcoats), and basic equipment setup, cleaning, troubleshooting Follow work orders, technical data sheets, and application procedures; control film build, spray technique, consistency Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Capable of lifting a minimum of 40 lbs on a routine basis Job Specific Skills – Preferred Experience with Graco plug-in component equipment Industrial coating or blasting operations experience Familiarity with AMPP / SSPC standards Experience supporting customer demos or training Communication & Working Relationships Internal Product Development team Sales team External IXS customers during demos or similar activities Working Conditions Capable of lifting 40 lbs on a routine basis Exposure to chemicals used for cleaning and flushing equipment Equal Opportunity Employer.
