Front Office Clerk

Under basic supervision, performs various clerical duties to aid in the operations of the school front office.

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Greets students, parents and other site visitors. Provides students with hall passes, as needed. Maintains volunteer/visitor log.
• Answers phones and responds to inquiries. Records complaints and concerns. Directs calls to appropriate staff member.
• Assists with the coordination of guest teachers, period substitutes and reconciling completed assignments.
• Serves as key operator for telephone and intercom systems.
• Creates and maintains reports, lists, and forms to assist with tracking student and teacher information.
• Assists with scheduling of assigned calendars.
• Sorts and distributes mail.
• Prepares information for school marquee updates. Coordinates daily announcements, including digital announcements.
• Completes other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of experience in a school office setting OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Knowledge of:

• Standard clerical and office procedures and operations.
• Telephone etiquette.
• Practices and methods involved in providing quality customer service.
• District, School Board and School/Department policies and procedures.

Required Skills in:

• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
• Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Work is performed in a standard office environment.
