Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit.
Promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is essential.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Applying the caring processes of the designated Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Assessments are performed according to policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
The RN initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care, reviewing and revising it as indicated.
Collaboration with patients/families and interdisciplinary services is vital.
Resources are utilized appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Monitoring and documenting responses to clinical interventions are key responsibilities.
The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs.
This includes care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge.
The RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel and functions as a mentor/preceptor.
Teamwork is encouraged and facilitated within the unit.
Opportunities for improvement are identified and communicated appropriately.
Participation in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts is expected.
Compliance with regulatory standards is required.
Participation in the governance model is also part of the role.
